2.1.2 How to install ModelSim for FPGA Simulation on Ubuntu 22.04
1. Add support for i386 archtecture:
Shell
$> sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
$> sudo apt-get update
2. Packages to be installed for ModelSim:
Shell
$> sudo apt install libc6:i386 libncurses5:i386 libstdc++6:i386
$> sudo apt install lib32z1 lib32ncurses6 libxft2 libxft2:i386 libxext6 libxext6:i386
3. Download ModelSim 20.1 from here.
Change file permissions:
Shell
$> chmod u+x ModelSimSetup-20.1.1.720-linux.run
Run the script:
Shell
$> ./ModelSimSetup-20.1.1.720-linux.run
4. Run QuartusII:
Shell
$> echo 'export PATH="$PATH:$HOME/intelFPGA/20.1/modelsim_ase/bin"' >> ~/.shellrc
$> source ~/.shellrc
$> vsim
Shell
$> sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
$> sudo apt-get update
2. Packages to be installed for ModelSim:
Shell
$> sudo apt install libc6:i386 libncurses5:i386 libstdc++6:i386
$> sudo apt install lib32z1 lib32ncurses6 libxft2 libxft2:i386 libxext6 libxext6:i386
3. Download ModelSim 20.1 from here.

Shell
$> ./ModelSimSetup-20.1.1.720-linux.run
4. Run QuartusII:
Shell
$> echo 'export PATH="$PATH:$HOME/intelFPGA/20.1/modelsim_ase/bin"' >> ~/.shellrc
$> source ~/.shellrc
$> vsim
